Spicy Cauliflower Mash

We get so many requests for a repeat of this recipe that it’s hard to say no. Originally this wasn’t ours but over the years we have perfected it to our taste. Paleo? low-carb? need to eat more freekin veggies? Just like delicious foods? This satisfies all of that. Enjoy!

  • 1 head cauliflower
  • 2 jalapeno peppers
  • 1 med sweet onion
  • 1/3 can coconut milk (this is optional, you can use ghee or butter instead)
  • lots of garlic
  • spices (garam masala, salt &pepper to taste)
  • We have been known to use bacon!! Imagine that!
  • We have also been known to use ghee giving it a creamy spicy smoothness

For the jalapeno cauli start by bringing a pot of water to a boil.  Break the cauliflower up into florets and place in the boiling water until they are soft.  Once soft, remove and place in a food processor and process until it reaches a creamy texture.  As that is happening heat another skillet to low-med heat and toss in 3 cloves of minced garlic, 1 minced onion, 2 sliced jalapenos, and some s&p.  Sautee for 2-3 minutes and then add in the coconut milk.  Sautee for another 5-6 minutes and then throw in the creamy cauliflower.  Cook for another 5 minutes on low to let all the flavors blend and SERVE!

Strong First

Strong First

I wish I would have written this. Ladies and Gentleman have confidence in yourselves and your goals and F*ck what other bullshit people try to put on you. This is your life, grab hold and make it what you want it to be. AND follow Elisabeth Akinwale as a blogger, as an athlete and as a damn fine example of living a life to the fullest.

Elisabeth Akinwale

There’s this insidious thing that won’t seem to go away, and it is the incessant chatter about athletic women’s bodies- is it ok for women to have muscles? Is strong really better than skinny? I don’t know if men are the main perpetrators or if it’s mostly us doing this to each other (let’s blame the men, that’s more fun). Either way, it’s apparent that certain forces are less than enthusiastic about the fairer sex being yoked. Don’t be scared, everything is going to be ok, even if us gals get barbells in our hands. I usually chalk the negativity up to mostly internet trolls- a subsect of the population I find it best to ignore. Frankly, I just don’t like giving life to the subject by discussing it further. I don’t feel the need to defend my choices for my body, or encourage others to choose the same path…

The Soft American

The Soft American

This was written in 1960 by then President Elect JFK…the problem of the softening of America has only gotten worse…..Its time to start making a change, You are the change start with yourself and teach someone else and let’s rebuild what has been lost. Not only will it be good for the general defense of our country but it will be good for the health and welfare of our country as well. Being Physically fit makes good economic sense.

we can fully restore the physical soundness of our nation only if every American is willing to assume responsibility for his own fitness and the fitness of his children. We do not live in a regimented society where men are forced to live their lives in the interest of the state. We are, all of us, as free to direct the activities of our bodies as we are to pursue the objects of our thought. But if we are to retain this freedom, for ourselves and for generations yet to come, then we must also be willing to work for the physical toughness on which the courage and intelligence and skill of man so largely depend.” JFK

Make it a Merry Mollyday!

Have you met Molly?

Image

If you have ever been to Garage Gym 702 or to Crossfit Las Vegas on a Saturday then you have met the bundle of love and fun that we named Molly and if you have met her then you know how amazing she is.

Molly came into our lives because of the work of Lara Mirkovich and the rescue group Little Friends Foundation. We cannot begin to thank them enough for taking our girl out of the shelter and saving her life. As it turns out, Little Friends is as special a rescue group as Molly is a dog, they help fund no cost spay and neuter programs for families that can’t get their pups spayed or neutered, they are a no-kill rescue run mostly on the power of volunteers and donations.

This holiday season, Wendy and I and Garage Gym 702 would like to help Little Friends help rescue more dogs and make the ones that are waiting for their forever homes more comfortable. Below you will find a list of needs posted by Little Friends Foundation on Amazon.  You of course do not have to purchase from Amazon, this was just the easiest way to post the list. We would like to help them fill this list to the best of our abilities by collecting donations of goods through Dec 31st. Won’t you please help us help Little Friends have an amazing start to the new year by dropping your donations off at Garage Gym 702 or at Crossfit Las Vegas? Just leave a note that your donations are for Little Friends Foundation and we will be happy to collect them and deliver them.

Donate in the name of Molly! I am sure she will save a special kiss or nuzzle for you or maybe even give you a happy growl! From us to you thank you and Happy Holidays.
